We were back-to-back neighbours with Brenda and Bernard in Loddington during the nineteen-seventies.
They were great times. Taking the “p” out of our respective accents, scrambling over the stone wall between our houses for lunch-time drinks or evenings of home-brewed “dynamite” from Bernard’s cellar. Squash matches, fancy dress dinner parties and occasional posh dinner dances.
Then all of a sudden, our kids had grown up and we all moved on, but some friendships never fade and thankfully ours was one of those.
Both very sadly missed but never, ever, forgotten.
