Warm Memories

Adam is an old friend of mine from the 80s.

There was always a very warm welcome at Park Court from Bernard and Brenda.  I remember them both fondly. Big smiles and a relaxed vibe. With a keen eye for modern design they had a cool and stylish home. A ‘posh’ glass dining room table you could see your legs through and my goodness those fabulous leather strappy designer chairs . I assume they are still there?  At Christmas I recall they used to put pieces of that white twisty packing foam as snow under the tree. And it looked good!!! I don’t know how they managed to make that work but they did. Class!

Bernard and I bonded over a shared love of cycling. He quietly imparted his wisdom to my novice, youthful self. Although a lot of it I only really appreciated years later. But I often remember his comments whilst I’m on a climb or when appreciating my ‘proper’ bike that he always told me I should get but foolishly only did a few years ago. I live by the Surrey Hills now but back then I was in Bramhope and I would enjoy seeing his approving grin when we discussed the route home via the ‘Cote de Old Pool Bank’!

All good, warm memories.

As some others have already mentioned he was definitely a Gentleman and I know he will be deeply missed but he will be remembered warmly.

Chapeau Bernard !
